Re: Interest in a future Police Constable position
Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to express my interest in a future Police Constable position with Peel Regional Police. I admire the way the service focuses on community safety, public trust, and working with people from many different backgrounds. I would like to contribute to that work with honesty, sound judgement, and a commitment to keep learning.
From January 2022 to February 2024 I worked as a server and cashier at Joummar Restaurant, and since October 2024 I have held the same role at Sumaq Iraqi Charcoal Grill. In both positions I learned to listen carefully, stay accurate and polite during busy periods, and handle cash and debit payments responsibly. Working closely with my co-workers also showed me how much a team depends on each person being reliable.
In 2023 I volunteered with the Islamic Community Centre of Ontario (MAC Masjid), helping to organize Ramadan Iftar activities and Eid community events. In 2022 I helped welcome new students during orientation at Stephen Lewis Secondary School. Both experiences taught me patience and showed me that good service begins with making people feel acknowledged and included.
I am currently in Year 2 of the Police Foundations diploma at Sheridan College, Davis Campus, with a GPA of 3.13. My courses have strengthened my understanding of responsible decision-making and community relations. I am preparing for the OACP Constable Selection System, including the report-writing and problem-solving sections of the SSPO. Through my Fitness and Police Preparation course I am also building the endurance, strength, and overall wellness that policing requires.
I understand that trust is earned through consistent daily actions, openness to feedback, and respect for the people one serves. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my education, work experience, and volunteer service could support a future application. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Wissam Al Hussein

This section documents my formal education, from secondary school in Mississauga to my current Police Foundations studies at Sheridan College. Each stage has built the knowledge, communication skills, and sense of responsibility that a career in public safety requires.
I am in Year 2, Semester 1 of the two-year Police Foundations diploma at the Davis Campus in Brampton, with a current GPA of 3.13. The program covers policing theory, Canadian criminal law, community interaction, decision-making, and physical and tactical preparation. The Fitness and Police Preparation course has given me a clear picture of the selection process and the standards expected of a constable.
I completed my Ontario Secondary School Diploma at Stephen Lewis Secondary School in June 2025. Secondary school gave me the foundation for post-secondary study and my first experience of community involvement through the student orientation program.
Volunteering has given me the chance to serve others, work as part of a team, and put community values into practice outside the classroom. I value helping wherever help is needed, including the small tasks that keep an event running.
During Ramadan I helped organize and prepare Iftar activities and supported community members attending the evening gatherings. I also assisted with Eid gift activities and worked alongside other volunteers to make sure events ran smoothly and everyone felt welcome. This experience taught me patience, teamwork, and respect for the people I was serving.
I welcomed incoming students, guided them around the school, showed them the important areas, and answered their questions. Helping newcomers feel comfortable in an unfamiliar place strengthened my confidence in speaking with people I did not know and showed me how much a calm, friendly approach can help someone settle in.
The milestones below mark my progress over the past five years toward a career in public service. I measure my growth through what I have completed and what I am working toward, and each step has reinforced the patience, reliability, and commitment to self-improvement that I intend to bring to policing.
Accepted into the two-year Police Foundations Ontario College Diploma program at the Davis Campus, a recognized entry point for a career in Ontario policing.
Progressed to Year 2, Semester 1, and on track to graduate in April 2027.
Working through the application requirements, including the vision and hearing assessments, fitness logs, and the SSPO exam that tests report-writing and police problem-solving.
Held server and cashier roles at Joummar Restaurant and Sumaq Iraqi Charcoal Grill while studying, building a record of reliability and professional conduct.
Supported Ramadan and Eid events with ICCO MAC Masjid and helped run new student orientation at Stephen Lewis Secondary School.
This section lists the licence I currently hold. As I move through the police application process I plan to add the further certifications that Ontario police services expect from applicants.
A valid Ontario driver's licence is a standard requirement for police service applications in the province. I hold a Class G2 licence and plan to complete the full Class G test before applying.
Professional references, including supervisors from my current and past employment, academic instructors from Sheridan College, and community organizations where I have volunteered, are available upon request. Please contact me directly to arrange.
I welcome enquiries from Ontario public safety and policing organizations about my education, work experience, and interest in a future Police Constable position. Please feel free to reach out.
